Christine,

I can relate to much of what you state. Especially when one has a family, it seems as though their thirst for travel or the afforability thereof disappears. Due to weakening limitations we put on ourselves I see this becoming the trend.

As for Tim Ferris, he either both opened up the eyes of dreamers and put a spotlight on individuals who are living the life he describes in his book. Never met the chap, but am a fan and he seems as funny as heck!

I also checked out your site and you seem to have a very admirable travel business on your hands . Kudos. Its great seeing you here once again!

Bunk, thank you so much for the kind words - I am so glad that I found your blog! It's almost ironic how much we have in common in terms of the way we think. I just recently decided to bring travel back into my life. Travel was one of my passions and I let that passion die right along with my other dream during those years in corporate America. I also noticed that you're a fan of Tim Ferris - he is my new hero.

Just today, I wrote a blog post about the launch of a new site and a new business centered on travel and that helps people bring travel back into their life. Definitely check it out. I also started a 1-week contest where I'm giving away a copy of Tim Ferriss' The 4-Hour Work Week in the same post. Great minds think alike!

@ Jenn - Jenn, your tips are always welcomed as you have become rather the traveller yourself. And the input on the jewelry you mentioned may have just saved me $500,000 in the future.

@ Gonzo - Thanks for the barrio pics offer. cant wait to see more!

Also, when buying trinkets whether it is jewelery, decor for your home or even wine and cheese. Check on your particular governments website to see if the items are on the endangered or illegal list. Bones of some animals,Ivory(Big Hell No),gold even coins on the street, from Egypt anything from South America, China or India over 200 years old will have to have an official inspection. The fine for importing thee items can be from 100 to 50,000 dollars. Some even come w/ jail time.Be careful, have fun and be weary!

I like the tips about South America. You know I travel all the time. However, I do not have kids so my experiences are slightly more surreal. Another Tip: Don't Drink The Water in Mexico, Peru or any other non- industrialized nation. Ie.. India(except Bombay and New Delhi) This is a shocker even Greece and some parts of France and Portugal have water issues. Also,I believe that reading up on the local indigenous cultural as well. Sometimes what we find offensive or acceptable behaviors are not acceptable behaviors in countries like some in South America, China, Africa. These behaviors and gestures can get you fined and or incarcerated. Also, ask the locals about restaurants and local activities. Since, most of the experience is amongst them and not at the tourist sites. The prices at tourist attractions are extra high on purpose.Well since my travels are not quite South American more African and European, I think what has been suggested here is useful anywhere! Cheers BK-
